I am a fan of alternatives, also known as options. For example, WhizSpark is (more or less, though they are so much more) an alternative to evite. I could set up my own ad server for Exploit Boston, but I’d rather not. Are there any alternatives to Blogads worth checking out?

There are a few things about blogads that I like.
1. People can upload their own ads.
2. As the ad inventory owner, I can enter a free ad on my site.
3. You can sell your own inventory and the amount the network keeps is out in the open.
I don’t think there are any hosted networks that allow all of that. Unfortunately, phpAdsnew doesn’t allow self service (1 above).
I haven’t looked at adbrite in depth, but I hear that is pretty good.
In the beginning, blogads seemed to be selling the inventory in their network. But, I haven’t had anyone buy my space in awhile. Maybe because we trash talked them? Or maybe they just aren’t pushing it anymore? Who knows?
Well, not Pajama Media, that’s for sure…
