On Broadway Is a Superb Movie

Last week as I was wading through the schedule for the Independent Film Festival of Boston I noticed On Broadway. It looked interesting so I got tickets for Michael and I to attend the encore world premier screening last night. Wow! This movie is excellent. I really hope they get a big distribution deal because everyone should have the opportunity to go to this movie in a theater. It’s refreshing to see a movie based in Boston that isn’t about murderers or gansters. Crazy, I know. It was heartfelt but never felt contrived.
As an added bonus there is an awesome Boston-inspired soundtrack with bands I play on Exploit Boston Radio including The Bleedin Bleedins and Bill Janovitz.
Watch the movie trailer and head over to BunkoSquad and Bostonist to read Michael’s review of On Broadway.

Talking to Animals “Reunion” and the Genius of Tourfilter
Thanks to the genius that is Chris Marstall’s Tourfilter, I found out that Juliana Nash and her bandmates from Talking to Animals are reuniting for a show at the Lizard Lounge on Wednesday, May 23rd. They were one of my favorite Boston bands from the 90s along with Splashdown and Mistle Thrush.
Speaking of Tourfilter … go vote for your favorite concert website so it can win a Webby award.

Still Twittering
I haven’t had a lot of time to write full-on blog entries here at sooz.com; but my 140 character updates via Twitter don’t seem to be fading just yet. It would be handy to be able to publish a daily blog entry with that day’s twitterings. Anybody know how to do that?
While talking to Mark Bernstein on IM earlier today I mentioned that Twitter seems to be like RSS for lazy people. He told me about a recent blog entry he wrote. I’ve got his RSS feed in my reader — but I haven’t opened it in over a month. He also noted the entry on Twitter and I saw that shortly afterwards. Maybe “RSS for lazy people” is not the best marketing slogan for Twitter but it seems to catch my attention moreso than wading through my RSS reader.
Whether you like sports or not you should be reading Michael’s words over at Bostonist. He’s covering all things sports for Bostonist 3-4 times a week. The only writer comparable to him is probably Bill Simmons. Maybe. ;)

Las Vegas, Birthdays, Etcetera
I have become one of those people who has been sending out life updates/etc via Twitter moreso than her own blog. Yikes! I’ve been in Las Vegas since April 10th and head back home tonight. I got to town early to make sure my dayjobbyjob’s booth (EditShare) got set up OK and then the tradeshow itself happened April 16-19 followed by the breakdown of the booth. It was a lot of long days of work but I did get to sneak in some fun wandering around town taking photos. We had some excellent meals at Mon Ami Gabi, Todd English’s Olives and Ah Sin. I’ve got eight hours to wander around Vegas before getting on a plane to head back home. This is the first work trip I’ve had for this many consecutive days. I definitely miss Boston.
Speaking of missing Boston … happy birthday, Michael!
