My photos from Rodfest VI at the Paradise on January 18th
Friday night was the big event for Rodfest VI at the Paradise Rock Club. It was the sixth annual event to celebrate the life of Gregory “Rodney” Moynahan who died in a car accident at 23 in 1994. Proceeds from the event are given to the Greg Moynahan Memorial Scholarships at Stonehill College and The Town of Scituate.
The sold out night featured the awesomeness of Three Day Threshold, Rogue Heroes, The Bowen Street Band, Cassavettes and Girls Guns & Glory.
The photo above is Kier from Three Day Threshold who played a big part organizing Rodfest and Tom from Rogue Heroes.

How to be a morning person
It’s not my usual routine to be a morning person. When I was working at BostonNOW I started my day there at 10am which meant I could sleep in until about 9. Now that I’m back to freelance work and I have a couple projects keeping me busy, I’m trying to wake up a lot early — by 6:30am. I’m almost there. Yesterday I woke up at 8am and this morning I woke up at 7:30. I’m definitely a night owl. I’m usually up until 1 or 2am — sometimes later.
This blog I found doing a search for “how to be a morning person” had some good tips.
Are you a morning person? How do you do it?

Mac geeks gather at Betahouse for the Steve Jobs Keynote
I changed my WordPress theme on sooz.com and for some reason it does something weird with the first word of the first paragraph if it only has one letter in it. So, ignore this tidbit that I’m typing so that the real entry looks right.
I was at Betahouse (a coworking loft space in Cambridge) Monday afternoon conspiring with Jazkarta, a (new) freelance marketing client. Before we dug into our meeting, Betahouse hosted a viewing of Steve Jobs’ keynote at MacWorld today. Jazkarta cohort Dave Fisher went around the room after the keynote to round up video reactions. I was amazed that his Macbook Pro was able to record really good video through Photobooth. Nice!

Drupalcon Boston March 3-6, 2008
The freelance life is off to a good start. Jeff Whatcott, the new VP of Marketing at Acquia, hired me as an event planner to help out organizing the upcoming Drupalcon Boston event that lands in Boston March 3-6, 2008 at the Boston Convention Center. See you there?
About Drupalcon …
Drupalcon Boston 2008 takes place from March 3, 2008 to March 6, 2008 in Boston Convention and Expo Center. There will also be a Drupal Code Sprint on March 7.
Drupalcon is the twice-yearly gathering of Drupalers to learn about, discuss & advance Drupal, and to network with other Drupal community members. With sessions targeted at everyone from novice to expert attendees, Drupalcon is one of the best ways to advance your understanding and use of Drupal.
The session schedule for the conference is still under development. It will be structurally similar to Drupalcon Barcelona 2007 which had 20-25 1-hour sessions per day, running 4 sessions in parallel, with keynotes from industry leaders like Dries Buytaert and others.
AIIM Expo will be held at the same time and location, and Drupalcon attendees can visit the AIIM Expo Hall. For full access to AIIM Expo, separate registration is required.

Podcamp Boston 2 Photos
[Photo on the left: Fiz and Kosso. Photo on the right: Clarence.]
Better late than never! Being stuck indoors this weekend thanks to pesky bronchitis meant I had no excuse not to get caught up with some photos. Here’s my collection of photos from Podcamp Boston 2 that happened October 27-28 at the Boston Convention Center.
Podcamp is an “unconference” style event attended by several hundred internet+media enthusiasts: podcasters, bloggers, video bloggers and people new to it all.
I was a co-organizer of Podcamp Boston 2 and ran the welcome+info desk with Steve Sherlock and a group of volunteers.

The New New
Haven’t written on sooz.com in forever! Forever! Some new changes in the world of Sooz. I’ve headed back to the land of freelance after a brief stint working office Jobs in 2006 and 2007. Most recently I had an eight-month adventure as the interactive media director at BostonNOW. The first freelance job of 2008 is a marketing project. I’ll have more to say about that soon. And I am going to revive my event planning world starting with Free Agent Boston, a networking+events project I ran 1999-2004 for people working solo and in small teams around Boston.
But first up … bronchitis.
