What is it:

rsvp3: the 80s is a costume party with music, contests, food and cash bar -- all with an 80s theme.

rsvp started in 1997 when sooz hosted a party featuring electronic djs. In 1998 we gathered upstairs at Charlie's in Harvard Square for a swing and 1950's themed party. rsvp:the 80s is (of course) a 1980s themed party. We hope you can join us!

Cost:

$5/per person. Why are we charging a ticket price? To help defray the cost of the hall rental, sound equipment and cool prizes. Your hosts are still paying extra out of their own pockets, too. You get a fun party, homemade appetizers, a cheap cash bar ($2-4/drink), fun prizes, etc.

How to get there by car:

If you are driving, this Mapquest.com map should be helpful. Parking is available up the street in Arlington Center. Let Michael know if you have questions about getting to the party.

How to get there by MBTA bus:

The #77 bus runs regularly until 2:30AM with stops to/from Harvard Square and Porter Square. Michael and I are carless and ride this bus everyday. If you're traveling from the Boston area, the bus is highly recommended.

What else:

80s videos will be broadcast on a large screen. Michael is the dj and he'll be playing some of the best and worst from the 80s -- be sure to make a request or two now or at the party. Contests include best moonwalk, best costume, name that tune, etc. We've got some other things in store but they're a surprise. Wearing an 80s-inspired costume is great but certainly not a requirement.

The rsvp payment system is provided by paypal. It's an easy way to submit payment by e-check throuh your checking account or with a credit card. Setting up an account is very easy -- should only take a minute. As noted above, it costs $5 to rsvp for this party. All proceeds go towards paying party costs (it sure does add up to pay for the hall, sound equipment, etc.) including fun contest prizes. Everyone who submits an rsvp will also receive a party souvenir.
