Now that I’ve got the site rocking a new layout (cheers to the “Sight” theme from WPShower!) I’m inspired to catch up on photos and videos for Sooz TV.

Back in May, I shot video at The Rationales album release party for “The Distance In Between” at the Lizard Lounge. They were joined by old soul rock ‘n’ rollers OldJack. Watch, listen and enjoy! You can become a fan of Sooz TV on Facebook and subscribe to the Sooz TV channel at YouTube.

The Rock Out Boston Club meets tonight (Tues, 10/20) in Cambridge for Hey Mama

Hey Mama

[tweetmeme] I was an instant fan of Avi & Celia the first time I saw them at the Lizard Lounge a few years ago, sitting in with the always amazing Session Americana. Since then I’ve seen them a few times playing their duo show of sexy, soulful, rock and roll. They’ve stepped things up and are now playing with a full band with a new name: Hey Mama.

The Rock Out Boston Club that Annie Burns and I co-host is meeting up tonight (Tuesday, October 20th) at Cambridge Common at 8pm for drinks and then we’ll head downstairs to the Lizard Lounge for Hey Mama who are playing a Tuesday residency throughout October. Tickets are $7 at the door. It’s a small, cozy club (105 capacity) so getting there early to join us for drinks first is definitely a good idea.

Cambridge Common and the Lizard Lounge are at 1667 Mass Ave, a short walk down Mass Ave from either Harvard Square or Porter Square. Get there early enough and there’s parking behind the restaurant. The 77 and 96 bus will also get you there, too.

If you can’t make it tonight, join The Rock Out Boston Club’s fan page on Facebook and we’ll alert you when the next rock and roll outing happens in November.

The Blizzard of 78 CD Release Party for Book of Lies on January 29th at the Lizard Lounge

The Blizzard of 78 at Precinct

The Blizzard of 78 has a new album out called Book of Lies. it is awesome, awesome and more awesome. I’ve been looking forward to this album ever since I heard them since “Mercy” at their NEMO showcase Fall 2006. If you’re wondering what supercharged rock and soul sounds like, Book of Lies is the album to grab on iTunes, Amazon.com or buy a physical CD.

They’ve got a CD Release Party coming up on Thursday, January 29th to celebrate Book of Lies with bands Scarce (performing as acoustic duo) and Eddie Japan. I wrote about the show over on Exploit Boston!. We have free tickets to give away. (Send an email to blizzardtix (at) exploitboston.com). Otherwise, tickets are a bargain $5 online at Brown Paper Tickets or $8 night of the show at the door.
