You’re Invited: Ryze Boston mixer on Tuesday, March 9th

The monthly Ryze Boston networking mixer that I help organize is coming up this Tuesday, March 9th at Caveau. I love that place. It’s part of Marche Movenpick inside the Prudential Center. They’ve got a big fireplace towards the middle of the room, good food and an all-around great atmosphere. Andrew Kraft the organizer for Ryze NYC is going to be in town and will lead a 10-minute talk about getting the most out of Ryze (online and at in-person events). The event runs 6-9pm. There’s a discounted rate ($12/$15) for Ryze members. Regular Ryze membership is free. You can also show up at the door and pay $20. Along with an assortment of hors’deuves there will be a few drink specials, too.

I’ve never been a fan of events that call themselves “business networking” events since the atmosphere can be so artificial. Fortunately the Ryze Boston events have been great. There are over 400 people on the network and each event (we’ve had three so far) has been an interesting mix of humans from all sorts of backgrounds and industries. There’s a “networking game” to help facilitate conversations that seems to go over well. It’s essentially just an excuse to go up to someone and talk to them. Sometimes that can be helpful when you’re in a room full of strangers.
