Back in September, dozens of bands got together to perform at the 2013 New England Americana Festival in Harvard Square. It was a superb two days of music. I filmed many of the outdoor performances. First up is Sarah Blacker performing “Shiver” from her new album Precious Little Things.

Happy Cog presented the 2nd annual Cog’aoke at The Scoot Inn during Austin’s South by Southwest Interactive. Here’s one of the videos I shot for Sooz TV of PJ Maximus (also known as Rannie Turingan) performing “Faith” by George Michael. Check out the denim jacket that Rannie wore, complete with hand-sewn jewels and Faith design on the back. Follow Rannie on Twitter to keep up with his karaoke adventures in Toronto.

Session Americana returned to the Lizard Lounge in December for a month of Tuesday shows. Gathering around a small table with ambient mics, they play a mix of originals and covers. These videos are two of their popular covers: “The Shape I’m In” by The Band and “Dig A Little Deeper In The Well” by Flatt & Scruggs.

Sloan brought their epic power pop rock and roll to TT The Bear’s in Cambridge, MA on December 3, 2009. It was the first time I had seen them since 1996 or 1997. Crazy, yet true! They were as awesome live as I remembered them all those years ago. They’ve got a new EP out called “Hit & Run” that you can buy on iTunes. And why wouldn’t you? It’s awesome and only $3.99. Bargain! Check it out and buy it. Special thanks to the pesky drunk couple who I somehow inspired to move away from the front of the stage so people around me could enjoy the show without the two of them falling over on us. ;)

Here are videos for the songs “Ordinary Girls” and “Lights On” that I filmed that night. The entire album is spectacular but “Lights On” is definitely my favorite song on the new album. Buy “Shake Down The Sun” at iTunes.
